More details have emerged after Birmingham City midfielder Greg Stewart agreed a pre-contract to sign for Rangers, according to Football Insider.

Steven Gerrard is continuing his Rangers rebuild and it shows no signs of abating, and Stewart looks to be the next through the door at Ibrox.

According to FI, Stewart has agreed a three-year contract and settled terms, which reportedly includes a signing-on fee and also bonuses.

The 29-year-old has spent the season on loan at Aberdeen where has eight goals and as many assists to his name.

The Scotsman signed for Birmingham in 2016 after impressing whilst at Dundee, he failed to make an impression for the Championship side and has been loaned out to both Aberdeen and Kilmarnock over the last three years.

Good move for Rangers?

Stewart has impressed on loan at Aberdeen this term. Despite failing to make any sort of impact whilst at Birmingham, Stewart has definite quality. His left-foot is a danger from set-pieces and his dribbling is one of his main focal points, and the feeling is he will add a nice balance to the Gers’ play. This is a low-risk move for Rangers and they won’t have to pay a fee – it could be a shrewd addition to an improving Rangers squad. Strength in depth is something that the Light Blues will need to add and Stewart is certainly a solid addition, he has a good record in Scottish football and could become a real asset.

Likely to happen?

The deal has been on the cards for a while now and it seems as if it’s all but complete. Rangers have been interested in Stewart for a good amount of time and everything now looks to be in place. A medical will be the only thing that could hinder a deal from being finalised it seems.
