Rangers midfielder Graham Dorrans has been told that his first-team chances will be limited at the club next season, according to The Scottish Sun.

The 32-year-old, who signed from Norwich for £1.35m in the summer of 2017, made 20 appearances in his debut season but was restricted to just three last term after injury.

According to the newspaper, the Scotland international could join Kyle Lafferty in leaving the club having been told where he stands in Gerrard’s plans for next season.

Dorrans has scored five goals and assisted four others for Rangers in 23 games for the club.

OPINION

While there is nothing concrete in the newspaper’s report to say that Dorrans will quit, the likelihood is that he will. Having only made three appearances in all competitions last term – one in each of the Premiership, Europa League and Scottish League Cup – he has now reportedly had his future prospects at Rangers confirmed. And they will be very limited. The fact that Gerrard has supposedly came out and said it to Dorrans tells you all you need to know, if it wasn’t clear anyway from his lack of game time. And if Dorrans was intent on fighting for a place had he not been informed of Gerrard’s plans, there is little chance he will stick around now. The midfielder needs to assess his options, and there will definitely be a few clubs who would want someone with his experience. After all, the midfielder has 142 Premier League appearances and 83 Championship outings on his CV.
