Neil Lennon has confirmed that Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney will undergo an operation at the end of the season on a double hernia.
The 21-year-old hasn’t featured for the Hoops since the 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Aberdeen in mid-April, and while his manager did confirm that he could feature this weekend against the Dons, Lennon went on to add that he will go under the knife at the end of the campaign.
According to the Northern Irishman, as quoted by Superscoreboard, that could lead to an absence of 3-4 weeks.

OPINION
This is actually pretty good news for Celtic. Tierney has been struggling on and off all season with various issues, and hopefully this will put one of them to bed once and for all. The other real bonus is that he won’t miss any game time for the Hoops because it will come at the end of the domestic campaign, and judging by Lennon’s previous comments on his availability for Saturday, Tierney should be able to feature between now and the end of the season. All in all, nothing too bad for the Bhoys, but the lingering concern will be that he aggravates the issue in the period before his operation and is forced to miss out on more time than initially expected. If that can be avoided, however, then there is no reason why he can’t go under the knife, sort himself out, and still get in a decent enough preseason to come back fully fit next term.
