Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon sent a gushing message to outgoing Hoops star Dedryck Boyata on Instagram on Tuesday morning.

The Belgian international is all set to join German side Hertha Berlin once his contract at Parkhead expires later this summer, and Gordon sent a heartfelt message to the Celtic regular.

“Well done Deddo,” he wrote on Boyata’s official Instagram account, after the defender issued a post saying goodbye to the Bhoys. “You will be missed.

“Loved playing alongside you. Good luck in Berlin.”

OPINION

It’s certainly a shame that Boyata will be leaving Parkhead this summer. He’s been a wonderful servant to Celtic and has really grown throughout his time in Glasgow. You have to say that the 28-year-old is undoubtedly one of the finest defenders in Scotland, and so to lose someone like that is always a blow. However, the former Manchester City man’s exit has seemingly been on the cards for some time now. Now he’s off to Hertha Berlin, and he’ll likely do very well in the Bundesliga. It’s certainly an excellent free agent pick-up from their point of view. Gordon clearly enjoyed his time playing alongside the big Belgian, stating that he loved operating behind him. For a ‘keeper like him, it must have been a pleasure to have someone as talented as Boyata playing just ahead of you. However, that’s no longer going to be the case moving forward.
