Scott Brown has taken to Twitter to respond to WWE superstar Drew McIntyre calling him out.

The wrestler, who is also a Rangers fan, suggested that he would love to meet the Hoops’ skipper in the ring during an interview with talkSPORT.

He said: “If I could face one football player in the ring…Scott Brown, who else is going to be?”

“Why? Well aside from the fact he plays for my rivals obviously he is a wind-up merchant and he is very good at it.

“I would love to do a bit of trash talking with Scott Brown as he is clearly good at it and once he gets to the peak and riles me up, which he always does, as he is the master of riling people up then I’ll Claymore kick him and drop him.

“Sorry Scott, I’m calling you out mate.”

But Brown was quick to meet the offer, replying on Twitter: “Bring Adrian Durham as well.”

OPINION

This is brilliant from Brown. For all of the bravado and the grief that he gives people, he has a good sense of humour, and you can tell that he revels in his role as the pantomime villain. Brown is exactly the kind of player that you would love to have playing for you, but that you would hate to be playing against. Because of that he is widely regarded as one of the least liked footballers in Scotland, but you would hope that when the time does finally come for him to hang up his boots, he is given the respect from across the game that he has earned. It’s hard not to be impressed with what he has achieved at Celtic, but the fact that his hard man reputation is tempered with a touch of self-deprecation means that it is easier to like him away from the game as well. Brown doesn’t take himself too seriously, and when all is said and done, football is just a game.
