John Hartson has taken to social media to congratulate Neil Lennon on being offered the chance to be Celtic manager on a permanent basis.

Lennon has been offered the chance to stay on as Hoops manager following the club’s Scottish Cup victory against Hearts on Saturday, as confirmed by Celtic via their official Twitter account.

The Celtic legend was amongst many people in offering his words of congratulations for the Scottish coach, before sending a message to the Celtic faithful urging them to get behind their new, returning manager.

In a tweet posted from his personal Twitter account, Hartson said: “Congratulations Neil Lennon.. Celtic boss on a 3 year contract..

“Agree or disagree with the appointment let’s get behind our manager.. Treble Treble.”

OPINION

It’s always a joyous occasion for fans of a club when their club legends are also avid supporters, and this occasion is no different. Lennon has previously taken charge of Celtic for 227 games over a four year period starting back in 2010, before returning to the club earlier this season, to take over from the exiting Brendan Rodgers. Although his return has been topped off nicely with a win in the Scottish Cup final, securing the ‘treble treble’ for Celtic, is has been a controversial appointment. That being said, Hartson’s comment has never been more relevant, and fans of the club must now get behind their new manager and back him as much as possible, in the hopes that they can repeat all of their good form next season too, and go on to complete a ‘quadruple treble’. No matter what has been said about the initial appointment of Lennon, it can’t be taken away from the coach that he has done a good job in seeing out the SPL season impressively with the club, after they were effectively left in the dark by Rodgers.
