Steven Davis heaped praise on Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield and revealed the 30-year-old was a pleasure to play with.

The Northern Ireland midfielder was asked by Darrell Currie during an interview Ladbrokes for his opinion on Arfield given that the midfielder had just been named Player of the Month for April.

Davis responded by pointing out he thought Arfield had been excellent since joining the Gers from Burnley and added that he was impressed by how many goals his teammate had racked up this season.

“Yeah Scott has been excellent obviously in the games before I joined and in the games since I joined,” said Davis in an interview with Ladbrokes, as seen in a clip on their Twitter account.

“I’ve been really impressed with the number of goals and he has done really well this season, getting in good positions, getting chances every game and putting them away so…pleasure to play with him.”

OPINION

It’s not a surprise to hear Davis gush about Arfield as the former Burnley player deserves all the praise that is currently coming his way. Arfield has wowed on a regularly basis at Ibrox this season and has been a key player in Steven Gerrard’s side. The 30-year-old has racked up 11 goals, as well as getting seven assists, in the 44 appearances he has made across all competition. Given that Arfield’s performances have got better as the season has gone, probably due to him settling into life in Ibrox, you have to think, that he will be even more formidable next season. Arfield is bound to have teams trying to sign him in the summer due to his impressive form, and the Gers should stay strong and cling to him no matter the offers that come their way. The 30-year-old looks truly happy at Ibrox so as long as the Gers snub interest in him, they’ll easily be able to hold on to him.
