Robbie Savage has taken to Twitter to poke fun at Chris Sutton in the aftermath of Celtic’s Scottish Cup win over Hearts on Saturday.

The Hoops wrapped up a historic treble treble with a 2-1 comeback at Hampden Park, but Savage was quick to remind his BT colleague of how far Celtic are still behind Rangers in the all-time Scottish records.

Writing on his personal account, Savage tagged Sutton in a photo detailing all the records the Gers hold over their bitter rivals with the caption: “Scottish football, eh? Sorry mate is this up to date?”

OPINION

Savage loves a wind up, but he’s really clutching at straws with this one. Celtic have just win nine domestic trophies on the bounce, have wrapped up their eighth consecutive league title this season, and look for all the world as if they could go for 10 in a row. Do you really think Sutton is going to care too much about who has the most Old Firm wins right now? Of course not. Not only will he be too delighted with the way that his former side have gotten over the line, but the way they are going, you wouldn’t bet against them catching up to the Gers in a fair few of those categories over the next few years. Undoubtedly, this is the narrowest the gap has been between the two sides for quite some time, and this summer will be a vital one in ensuring that Celtic keep distance with their neighbours. If they can do that, it’s hard to see any way that their monopoly will be broken any time soon.
