Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior has paid tribute to Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa after his side lost in the play-offs to Derby.

Frank Lampard’s side won 4-2 at Elland Road on Wednesday night to overturn a 1-0 first leg deficit.

Talking on the Sky Sports coverage of the game (Wednesday, Sky Sports, 7.45pm), Rosenior said that Bielsa was a “genius” and that all the Leeds players would go on to have great careers after playing under him.

“As a coach the man’s a genius, a genius,” Rosenior said.

“What he’s done with that Leeds side, the players he has used,  young players… All the players who are in this Leeds side will go on to have fantastic careers.

“And when they’re asked to look back on their careers, the turning point, all of them will be pointing to Marcelo Bielsa and we should celebrate what he’s done.”

OPINION

Fantastic words from Rosenior here and we think everyone will agree about the impact Bielsa has had on the Championship and the English game. He’s thrilled, charmed, impressed and made the headlines and we really hope he stays at Leeds for another season. Despite ending in heartache this season, Bielsa has worked wonders with this Leeds squad and with another season and some quality investment this summer, we think Leeds have a great shot at automatic promotion next year. It’s going to be an important summer for Leeds but not the one they wanted.
