Celtic have been handed a cup-final blow as three key first-team players missed training on Thursday, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that Scott Brown, Kieran Tierney and Jozo Simunovic all missed Thursday’s session, dealing a blow to the club’s preparations for Saturday’s showdown with Hearts.

Left-back Tierney had previously told a press conference on Wednesday that he would be fit for the final, despite suffering from recent injury problems.

OPINION

This is potentially a big blow for Celtic. Scott Brown is Celtic’s talisman and he has guided the club to so many titles down the years. He is the leader, the man the Hoops can always rely on to dig them out of the mud when things turn sour. And what a game he could miss. Saturday sees Celtic have the chance to complete the treble treble, and out of all the games this season – possibly ever – for Brown at the club, this is the one he would not want to miss. Tierney is key too. While only 21, he is a key part of this Celtic team who would not want to miss the game. And neither would Simunovic. If these claims are to be believed, you can bet that all three will be doing all they can to maximise their chances of making the game.
