If Rangers want to take themeselves to the next level they need to find some high quality talents who are going to make the difference.

According to The Daily Mail, Steven Gerrard’s men are interested in signing Bolton starlet Luca Connell – the 18-year-old making 10 appearances in the Championship last term – and his performances have not gone unnoticed with Norwich, Preston and Southampton all joining the Gers as being interested in the starlet.

Connell has serious potential and there is no doubt that his value will rocket in years to come. With that in mind, it would be an intelligent piece of business from Gerrard if he is able to fend off competition and land the youngster.

The midfielder is out of contract with Bolton in the summer and the Gers would only have to pay a compensation fee –  Gerrard must take advantage of this.

Even at such a young age, the Ireland youth international has shown high levels of maturity and his desire could really push others on in the Rangers squad. Steven Gerrard will be determined to make the Gers the force they once were and additions like Connell will certainly help achieve that in years to come.

Connell may not be ready for a starting position at Rangers but his potential and future value are two enormous factors that the Gers must consider. It’s the right time to make move given he is out of contract and the signing would be a real coup if Rangers can pull it off.

The youngster would learn a lot from Gerrard and because of this, he could really develop into a brilliant midfield player.

Signing Connell carries no risk and with so much promise, Rangers would be stupid not to make a move.
