Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has spoken out in his first major interview since Leeds were knocked out of the Championship play-offs by Derby.

Radrizzani committed his future to the club and also revealed that the club would be making a major announcement about Marcelo Bielsa in the next few days.

The Leeds owner was talking on the Jim White show on talkSPORT (Thursday, 10am) where he was asked by Jim White if he was staying.

“Of course,” replied Radrizzani. “I’m here and I hope we get there [Premier league] one day.”

Asked about whether Marcelo Bielsa would stay Radrizzani said, “We have a chance to keep him and we’ll see. The next few days will be decisive, we have a few things to clarify and we will make an announcement”.

White asked him whether he was optimistic and Radrizzani replied, “I said I will make our decision public soon.”

OPINION

Radrizzani has been getting some stick from the Leeds fans after their side failed to win promotion through the play-offs. That’s the nature of football but the owner has done a lot in his time at Elland Road. For starters he bought the stadium back, which was massive for the club. He was also responsible for bringing in Marcelo Bielsa last summer, which was a real coup and led to Leeds topping the table and only narrowly missing out on automatic promotion. In Bielsa he has one of the world’s best managers and in Carlos Corberan he has a possible successor who is working wonders with the Under-23s. Championship clubs have to do things the right way these days or they’re literally gambling with their future existence. We think Radrizzani is doing a great job at Leeds and we think it’s great for the club that he’s staying. The next few days will be nervy ones for the Leeds fans, though, who are desperate for Bielsa to stay.
