Aston Villa will try to sign loanees Tammy Abraham, Tyrone Mings and Axel Tuanzebe on permanent deals if they win promotion to the Premier League this season, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claims that Villa chief executive Christian Purslow will use his contacts at Chelsea, his former club, in a bid to sign Abraham.

The 21-year-old striker has scored 26 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions for the Villans this term and fans will be looking to him to fire them into the Premier League later this month when Dean Smith’s men play against Derby County in the play-off final at Wembley.

Good move for Aston Villa?

Abraham has been firing on all cylinders this season but Aston Villa need to be aware that his goalscoring record in the Premier League is nowhere near as good as it has been in the Championship.

While on loan at Swansea last term, when the Welsh club was relegated from the top-flight, Abraham scored five goals in 31 league appearances.

However Abraham is bound to be better than what Aston Villa would get otherwise and one more season outside of the Premier League could have provided the England international with all the development he needs to make it in that division.

Likely to happen?

Chelsea might not want to get rid of their best young players if they are unable to make new signings with a potential transfer ban for the billionaire-owned [Independent] club.

That will no doubt see Villa’s attempts to sign Abraham hit the skids but if Purslow is able to make good on his contacts at Stamford Bridge, this deal could be a goer.

However Villa still need to beat Derby at Wembley and then they need to hope that Chelsea are willing to do business with them.

At the moment, it’s hard to tell how this one might go.
