West Ham United’s Sam Byram could be set for a summer transfer move away from the club, as Manuel Pellegrini looks to make changes to his squad for next season, according to a report from the Daily Express.

Byram has spent the season on loan at Championship side Nottingham Forest, and Forest are keen on making the 25-year-olds move permanent in the summer having been impressed with Byram’s performances this season, according to the Nottingham Post.

West Ham signed Byram, who earns [£30,000 a week Sportac], from Leeds United in 2016, but the right-back has struggled to establish himself as a permanent fixture in the club’s starting line-up since his move.

Pellegrini will be looking to improve his squad this summer, after a solid first season in charge of the Hammers guiding them to a mid-table Premier League finish, the likes of Byram are likely going to be sold to make way for added quality at the London Stadium next season.

OPINION
Sam Byram’s time at West Ham since his move from Leeds United in 2016 has been somewhat frustrating. The 25-year-old joined the Hammers looking to build on a promising start to his career that had seen him attract interest from Premier League club’s during his time at Leeds. However, a mixture of injuries and inconsistent performances has seen Byram fail to establish himself as a first team regular at the London Stadium, with the likes of Pablo Zabaleta preferred to him at right-back. Byram’s loan spell at Nottingham Forest this season has seen him regain some of the form he showed at Leeds, which made him a sort after prospect. Making the switch to the Championship side permanently in the summer looks like the best solution for both parties, with Byram able to continue to improve with first team appearances and West Ham benefiting from being able to bring in some resources needed to improve their squad in the summer transfer window.
