With the season at a close, every Premier League club will now release their retained lists before making their moves in the transfer market.

West Ham were the latest to confirm which of their squad will be leaving at the end of June, with many senior faces told their contracts will not be renewed.

The Hammers confirmed that four of their first team squad will leave with Spanish duo Adrian and Toni Martinez, the latter a fringe figure, set to leave alongside Andy Carroll and Samir Nasri.

Manuel Pellegrini will be relieved to see the back of the French international Nasri with his half-a-season stay at the club not bringing any success. The 31-year-old joined on a free in January and the move was definitely a risk with Nasri having been banned for a doping infringement.

The move definitely backfired for the Hammers, with the 41-cap international only making six appearances for the club and failed to make any impact in his time on the pitch.

Nasri, a two-time Premier League winner at Manchester City – only managed to record two assists in his time under Pellegrini and didn’t even feature for the club during the last seven games of the league campaign.

This was always an experiment that could have gone either way but Nasri proved that another season was not worth the risk for West Ham, who have surely dodged a bullet by releasing the Frenchmen ahead of their next campaign.
