West Ham reportedly want to offload a number of fringe players in the summer and Jordan Hugill should be worried over what the future holds as a result.

Sky Sports reported on Thursday that the Hammers were eager to sell players surplus to requirements in order to boost their summer transfer kitty, and listed Hugill as a player who the club were keen to offload permanently.

With this in mind, the 26-year-old is bound to be up a creek without a paddle once the summer comes around as a result, as he isn’t exactly going to have suitors banging down the door to get him.

Hugill will not be able to convince Manuel Pellegrini to give him a chance as he hasn’t exactly excelled on loan this season in the Championship with Middlesbrough and there was a reason why he was quickly shipped out on loan.

The forward has managed only seven goals in 40 appearances for the Championship side and his lacklustre appearances have seen him not be a guaranteed starter under Tony Pulis.

Given the forward is a player that would naturally suit Pulis’ ideal system, as he is strong in the air and a player who can hold the ball up, it says so much that he is struggling for minutes at the Riverside.

Despite Hugill letting them down Middlesbrough have an outside chance of making the Championship play-offs, and this will surely see his minutes limited further.

Pulis will want to field a side he can trust if Boro do make the play-offs and based on what Hugill has shown him, he doesn’t fit the bill.

So with that in mind it’s not like the 26-year-old has much time left to impress, even if his side see their season extended, and that means he is practically out of chances to lure any suitors before the season ends.

It’s unclear how Hugill is going to attract a suitor or what his agent can do to potentially change that, and you have to think he is facing the real possibility of having a very bleak 2019/20 season.
