The agent of reported West Ham and Tottenham target Okay Yokuslu has provided an update on his client’s future.

The 25-year-old Celta Vigo midfielder has been reported as a target for both London clubs by Turkish Football, and his representative has been quick to answer those claims.

Speaking to Goal, Batur Altiparmak said: “It is natural for there to be interest after the season Okay had.

“There is interest from sides in the Premier League and La Liga, but he is a Celta Vigo player and it would be wrong to mention any names right now.

“And with regards to rumours claiming he will move to Turkey, they are false. He will be staying in Europe next season.”

OPINION

It’s hard to tell what these comments mean really. On the one hand, it would suggest that there is some base to the rumours that West Ham and Spurs are interested, but at the same time, Altiparmak’s insistence on being vague means that it’s difficult to know for sure how far any claim can be trusted. What you would say is that it certainly sounds as if Yokuslu will be on the move somewhere this summer, and England seems as likely a destination as any. For his part, the Turk seems as if he would be a good fit of the Premier League. Rangy and physical, he takes great pleasure in screening a back four, and with 21 caps to his name for his national side, it’s safe to say that he has the pedigree to be a success wherever he goes. Celta Vigo would be sad to lose him, but their loss could be England’s game.
