In a tweet posted from his personal Twitter account, the Italian journalist said: “Not only #Cancelo: Jorge #Mendes and #ManchesterUnited have also spoken about the future of #JoaoFelix

“He has a clause of €120M with Benfica.”

Good move for United?

In a sense, yes.

Felix has been a name circulating the footballing world a lot in recent months, after the Portuguese starlet appeared on the scene in the Liga NOS for Benfica, scoring 18 and assisting 11 in all competitions this season.

United would have to meet the release clause on offer for the player, who can play as an attacking midfielder or a winger, should they require his services ahead of next season, which would put the club around £102million out of pocket.

This could be seen as a substantial risk to take for the Manchester club, especially considering the youngster is still developing, and hasn’t played in the Premier League.

There is no doubting the talent that this 19-year old star has on offer, but it comes at a huge price.

Likely to happen?

Quite possibly. If any club are going to pay that much for a release clause, then it could quite possibly be United. However, it would certainly be a big ask for the club to shell out such a massive amount of money for a player who is effectively a big risk, and unproven in the Premier League.

However, should United come calling with the sum, it’s hard to imagine that the youngster will turn down the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in world football.
