Tottenham’s official Twitter account revealed Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up for the clash with Bournemouth on Saturday and a section of Spurs fans despaired. Pochettino decided to name attacker Vincent Janssen on the bench rather than start him and it seems that decision disappointed many. One Tottenham fan reacted angrily by dubbing the line-up a disgrace due to the lack of Janssen starting, while others just shared their disappointment. It’s quite surprising to see many up in arms over Janssen not starting as he is not a prolific force to lead the line, but you can understand where some are coming from. With Spurs’ set to face Ajax in the second-leg of the Champions League semi-final shortly, Pochettino should have looked to rest some tired legs by using players like Janssen. The forward has hardly featured this season and hasn’t really had a fair opportunity to stake his claim. Then again there’s a reason why Pochettino hasn’t used him and that’s due to his outings in previous seasons where he has been exposed as not being up to scratch.
