Tottenham are stretched pretty thin at the moment.

With countless injuries and a looming Champions League semi-final second leg against Ajax to consider, Spurs are fairly scraping the barrel when it comes to putting together their match day 18.

That was seen very clearly on Tuesday night against the Dutch side, when Mauricio Pochettino’s most attacking option on the bench was Moussa Sissoko.

It would seem that two windows without recruitment might finally be beginning to take their toll on the Argentine’s squad, which is delicately poised ahead of their Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Saturday.

Will Pochettino focus his attentions on that return game against Ajax? Or will he concede that his side need one more win in the league and try and pick it up against a side that he will fancy a lot more than next week’s visitors, Everton?

It’s hard to say, and there are certainly arguments for both, but one thing is for sure, Kyle Walker-Peters has to get the nod against the Cherries.

Kieran Trippier put in another horror show outing against Ajax in midweek, and Juan Foyth didn’t do much better when he was introduced.

Serge Aurier is out injured, and Walker-Peters has been sat waiting in the wings for long enough.

He still has a lot to learn, granted, but he is far form a liability, and looking at the alternatives available to Pochettino, he deserves his shot.

Spurs got a first hand view of the virtues of trusting in youth in midweek, and if Walker-Peters continues to be ignored, there will surely be questions raised over his future at the club.
