OPINION
Tottenham are set to spend in the summer. No one knows how much, not even Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino, as the final budget could come down to sales from players like Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen.
However, they are gearing up to spend and as such they are being linked with a procession of names who may or may not end up anywhere near the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
There is one name that has got the Tottenham faithful quite excited though and that’s Leicester’s Youri Tielemans.
The 21-year-old midfielder has made a big impression in the midlands with three goals and five assists in just 11 Premier League games since he signed on a half-season loan from Monaco in January.
He’s been doing bits for his country too, with 21 caps already for Belgium.
The Daily Star claims that he could spark a £40m transfer battle in the summer, with Arsenal, Man United and Tottenham all interested.
Leicester want to keep hold of him as well but Tielemans has refused to commit his future saying “we’ll see at the end of the season.”
They don’t have an option to buy and might not be able to convince him his future is in blue if the Premier League’s big boys come calling.
Tottenham fans really hope he ends up with them in north London but certainly aren’t counting their chickens, although prominent Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur claimed that he had been offered to Spurs in January, before he ended up at Leicester.
