Tottenham will prepare for the Champions League final on June 1st by heading to Madrid early, according to the Sun.

Spurs will square off against Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano in the biggest match in European football next month, but will not follow their Premier League rivals in embarking on a warm weather training camp between now and then.

Instead, Mauricio Pochettino will prepare for the final in London before taking his players over the Spain a few days early to help them acclimatise to the conditions in the capital.

OPINION

To be fair to Mauricio Pochettino, he is kind of having to make things up as he goes along here. Whereas Jurgen Klopp has done the whole European final thing before, the Argentine is very much a novice when it comes to this kind of thing, and the organisational side of things will be a factor that he may not have considered straight off the bat. Getting his players in the right headspace is absolutely vital to them getting out of this final, and you can see the logic behind him wanting to stay in London, in an environment that they are comfortable in, for as long as possible. Preparing for the match in their own facilities will help the squad treat this game as the would any other, but equally, flying out to Spain a few days early is a good idea wth regards to letting his players get used to the atmosphere that they will be playing in on June 1st. Hopefully it all works out for the best.
