Graham Roberts heaped praise on Tottenham attacker Harry Kane and claimed the 25-year-old would be the first name on the teamsheet for the clash against Liverpool.

The former Spurs player shared that he was confident the 25-year-old would start the Champions League final against the Reds and revealed he thought Mauricio Pochettino would move Christian Eriksen into midfield to make room.

Roberts stated that he thought Kane had an aura about him and that due to everybody looking up to him; his teammates will be disappointed if he didn’t play against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“Harry Kane will be the first name on the teamsheet and I’ll think he will play the other three behind him and maybe move Christian into midfield,” said Roberts on Sky Sports News (20:23, Thursday May 23rd).

“Fingers crossed, he’s got that aura about him and everybody looks up to him. He’s such a character that I think, to be honest, the players will be disappointed if he didn’t play.

“We played Liverpool twice this year, we played them with half a team both times, this time we’ve got no injuries as everyone is fit.

“I was at the training ground, they’re fit, raring to go so watch out Liverpool.”

OPINION

Roberts is spot-on to be in awe of Kane as the forward is the type of player that strikes fear into his opponents. The 25-year-old has scored 24 goals in 39 outings this season and Liverpool would rather not face him if they had a choice. Kane hasn’t featured for Spurs since injuring his ankle in the 1-0 victory over Manchester City in April and he is clearly in a race against time to be 100% fit for the Champions League final. Spurs coped without him in the Champions League semi-final against Ajax but it will be all hands on deck against the Reds. Liverpool are no doubt more motivated than ever to lift the Champions League this season as they missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City in painful fashion. While Spurs are equally as desperate to get a piece a silverware in their trophy cabinet this season; you just feel that the Reds’ recent disappointment may give them more fuel to their fire.
