Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that three Tottenham players will be fit for the Champions League final against Liverpool.

The Spurs manager was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the game on Saturday night.

He was quoted by journalist Jonathan Veal on Monday lunchtime as saying that Jan Vertonghen, Harry Winks and Davinson Sanchez would bit fit to play.

Pochettino also delivered an update on star striker Harry Kane who has resumed full training. However, Pochettino said he wasn’t 100% whether he would start, be on the bench, or ruled out.

OPINION

Harry Winks and Jan Vertonghen are big players for Tottenham and having them fit for the final is a massive boost. Davinson Sanchez adds depth at the back but may not start. However, it’s Harry Kane that everyone – including Liverpool, presumably – wanted confirmation on. And there, Pochettino wasn’t so forthcoming. He’s already said that it will be a decision that could make or break him after the final, and unless Tottenham win he’s likely to be damned either way. If Kane starts and blanks then people will say he obviously wasn’t ready. If he doesn’t start and Liverpool win, then people will ask why the hell he didn’t start. One thing we do know is that Kane hasn’t played since the beginning of April against Man City and he’ll have little match fitness. That surely decrees that he would be better off starting from the bench, ready to make an impact if needed. That would also save Pochettino the headache of who to drop if he comes back into the team – Dele Alli or hat-trick hero Lucas Moura.
