Steven Gerrard was at Anfield to watch the Champions League semi-final second leg between Liverpool and Barcelona, according to former Spurs player Jamie O’Hara.

And the Rangers manager wants his former side to meet Tottenham in the final.

Gerrard witnessed an epic Liverpool comeback as they beat Barcelona 4-0 to wipe out a three goal deficit from the first leg to progress to the final.

Talking on the Jim White Show (talkSPORT, Wed, 11am) O’Hara said he spoke to Gerrard on the phone at Anfield who said, “What a game, it’s incredible to be here.”

O’Hara said that Gerrard texted him after the game and said, “Now let’s hope Spurs do it against Ajax and make it an all-English final.”

OPINION

We could be on the brink of four English teams in the finals of the two European competitions. That would be a pretty incredible feat. Liverpool are already there after one of the most dramatic games of football we’ve seen. Tottenham are in Amsterdam tonight to try and overhaul a one-goal deficit from the first leg. Arsenal and Chelsea are in pole position to make the final of the Europa League. Gerrard was obviously thrilled last night but it’s interesting that he’d want Spurs in the final. Does he think Liverpool would have a better chance of beating them than Ajax? Ir was he just being nice to O’Hara? Either way, a Liverpool/Tottenham final would be a great showpiece for the English game, with both teams capable of breath-taking attacking football. There’s every chance that the two key stars missing for both teams, Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah, would be back in time for the final.
