Clinton Morrison needlessly put the cat among the pigeons by claiming Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino may be tempted to leave in order to become Juventus boss.

The talkSPORT pundit was talking about who will be the next manager of Juventus after the Italian giants confirmed, as relayed by their official website, that current boss Massimiliano Allegri was set to leave at the end of the season; when he threw Pochettino’s name into the hat.

“Yeah Tottenham will be looking over their shoulders cause Poch might want to go Juventus,” said Morrison on talkSPORT (8:26am, Saturday May 18th).

While the Daily Express did go on to report that Juventus had made the Spurs boss a candidate to succeed Allegri,  it’s still unlikely that Pochettino will be tempted to jump ship to Juventus.

The Spurs manager has worked hard to build a successful squad at the club and it finally looks like it’s all starting to come together.

Tottenham have a real chance of lifting the Champions League as they’re set to face Liverpool in the final of competition on June 1st and the club have recently moved to their fantastic new stadium that is surely going to see high-calibre players keen to join.

While Spurs chairman Daniel Levy hasn’t sanctioned the cash being spent in recent windows, with the stadium up and running now, surely that means the London club will get back to utilising the transfer market.

Pochettino has struggled on without Spurs raiding the transfer market so why would he be tempted to leave now that the club be ready to help see his ambitions met by splashing the cash?

Also given that Allegri is a tough act to follow, he has won the league title in each of his five seasons since taking charge in 2014, why would Pochettino want to take over a side that may not given him enough time to put his stamp on things?

Juventus appear to have been desperately trying to get that hands on the Champions League trophy in recent seasons and failing; and you feel if a manager doesn’t instantly deliver a win in that highly-competitive tournament they’ll be out on their ear.

So when you consider all that, it’s highly unlikely Pochettino will even pay attention to Juventus’ manager hunt so the pundit needlessly tried to cause a stir as he knows Spurs fans want the Argentinian to go nowhere.
