Inda: Bale return is ‘very likely’

Gareth Bale is “very likely” to return to Tottenham this summer, according to former Marca director Eduardo Inda.

The Welshman is understood to have been firmly ostracised by Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane since the Frenchman’s return to the club, and Inda believes that a summer exit could be on the cards.

As quoted by the Express, he said: “Bale has spent the day playing golf at La Morale.

“And it is very likely that he will reach either of the two finalists in the Champions League, Tottenham or Liverpool.

“That [Spurs] operation would be accompanied by Eriksen plus a quantity of money.”

Good move for Spurs?

Having Bale back would be something indeed. The Welshman is a truly world class talent who made his name at Spurs, and you can bet that most supporters would bite your hand off to have him back. There is a very strong argument that Tottenham need to prioritise other positions rather than going for a luxury playmaker like Bale, but he is so good that he surely transcends that. Having him in this Spurs team, alongside the likes of Harry Kane, in their new stadium, would surely catapult Tottenham to the very top table of the world game. The catch? Losing Christian Eriksen would be a seismic blow.

Likely to happen?

Prior to Inda’s comments, you probably would have said no. The Welshman is miserable in Spain, but that doesn’t immediately mean that Spurs would go in for him. There are few people who know Madrid as well as Inda does, however, and if he is inclined to say that a deal is “very likely” then that is certainly a game changer. Liverpool are also mentioned of course, and that is a complication, as is the prospect of losing Christian Eriksen, but this one might just have some legs.
