Football.London’s Tottenham correspondent Alisdair Gold has revealed that he believes Daniel Levy will give Mauricio Pochettino significant backing in the summer transfer window.

Spurs have not made any acquisitions during the last two windows, but Gold is of the opinion that the owner will break with that trend this time around.

Speaking on a video uploaded to Twitter, he said: “As a hunch, I do kind of feel that Levy’s going to back him.

“He’s not a fool, Daniel Levy, and I think you have to back a manage who has produced that much with so little.

“Give him a little bit to work with, who knows what could happen.”

OPINION

Spurs fans will be hoping and praying that Gold is on the money with this one. What Pochettino has achieved at their club, bearing in mind how little backing he has had in recent times, is absolutely incredible, and now he surely deserves some support in this window. In many respects, this is a make or break summer for Tottenham. In essence, what they are deciding on is whether they are happy with their status as a club, or if they want to push on and actually become a title contender. They have the stadium, they arguably even have most of the team in place, but they need that last little push. The issue is that that last push also happens to be the most expensive. The difference between Spurs and the sides above them is that Levy, previously, has never been willing to go and spend £50 million on a player who will just sit on the bench most weeks. Man City will. Liverpool will. This summer is going to be a litmus test on whether Levy is willing to as well.
