Tottenham are reportedly in the race to sign Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso in the summer transfer window.

According to Spanish news outlet AS, Spurs are the front-runner in the race for the 23-year old’s signature, and could be willing to pay up to €60million (Approximately: £51.9million)  for the player.

However, this could come as a problem for a certain player who is already at the club, and plays a similar role to that of Lo Celso.

Dele Alli would no doubt be under pressure to perform if the 23-year old was to eventually make the switch to the Premier League in the coming months, and this could potentially lead to the £100,000-per-week man (Source: Spotrac) being exiled by Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine midfielder has been involved in 22 goals this season for Real Betis, scoring 16 and assisting a further six goals in all competition for the Spanish club.

This means that arguably, the Betis man has been more impressive this season in comparison to Alli, who has only registered seven goals and eight assists in all competitions for Spurs this season.

The potential signing of the Argentine could give a real selection headache to his fellow countryman Pochettino, who would have to make the decision on which central midfielders to play week-in, week-out.

It also can’t be forgotten that Christian Eriksen is another name who will be in and amongst the starting line-up on a regular basis, meaning there won’t be enough room in Spurs’ match-day squad for both Lo Celso and Alli.

From the England international’s point of view, this could be a bad move, and could result in him being exiled and benched at certain stages next season, assuming Lo Celso’s form would continue when moving from Spain to the Premier League.

So with that in mind Alli should be sweating over Tottenham’s reported pursuit of Lo Celso.
