Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has kept a return to Tottenham on the table after talking to his agent this week, according to Radio Marca

The Spanish broadcaster claim on their Twitter account that the Welsh forward has met with his representative Jonathan Barnett this week over his future and that the talks have not only been extensive but regular during what is deemed to be a difficult time for the former Spurs ace.

It is stated that the option of returning to north London is on the table ahead of the summer transfer window opening, but that he does not want the drama of what happened when he moved to the Bernabeu. The Sun have claimed that there is a £10million loan move readied by Tottenham.

Opinion

Getting Bale back on board at Tottenham would be a massive coup for the club, who are still nowhere near possessing the same financial firepower as their rivals both in England and across the continent. Bale is the sort of player who will grab headlines for all the right reasons and a reunion with Tottenham would be the Lilywhites sending out a massive marker to the rest of English and European football. Of course nothing is set in stone and it is stated that meetings between Bale and Barnett have simply resulted in a move back remaining on the table. That is better than it being written off completely but there needs to be some serious talks between club, player and agent until the ball gets rolling on this one. Hopes around Tottenham might be building but the fans should remain grounded for now. What this shows is that the club are aiming high and that can only be a good thing moving forward.
