German outfit Schalke are leading the hunt to sign Everton’s Jonjoe Kenny this summer as the Toffees green light a loan exit, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claim on their website that the 22-year-old full back is wanted in the Premier League by Crystal Palace and Burnley but that it is the Bundesliga side at the front of the queue to snap the under-21 international up for a temporary spell.

It is stated Everton are allowing him to leave in order to pick up more game time, but that they could still sign a new right back to fight it out with Seamus Coleman next season.

Opinion

A move to Germany would give Kenny a different experience of football but if he wants to forge a career in England then maybe sticking in the Premier League would be best. Yes, the likes of Jadon Sancho have moved to the continent with great success but he is an exceptional talent and Kenny is not going to attract the same amount of attention because of his position. It all depends on what the full back wants for his future. If he is open to forging a career away from home, then maybe a move to Germany could open new doors, rather than being limited to the top flight. Alternatively, Crystal Palaca and Burnley are both solid sides where he could learn plenty by playing. That is perhaps the thing he needs to consider most – how much game time he is going to get. There is no point leaving on loan if he is going to continue sitting on the bench and Everton need to make sure wherever he does go he is part of the first team setup.
