West Bromwich Albion attacker Salomon Rondon is keen to join Wolves after spending his 2018/19 campaign on loan at Newcastle United, according to the Express & Star.

The regional newspaper claim that Wolves are happy to meet the £16million release clause in Rondon’s contract in order to sign him as they see him as ideal competition for Raul Jimenez.

Express & Star report that Wolves aren’t alone in their pursuit of the Venezuelan forward as a number of clubs are interested in him including Newcastle.

It is believed that no move for Rondon is imminent as the player is set to explore his options and Wolves have a number of targets to consider.

Good Move for Wolves?

Yes, it’s a no brainer.

Rondon, who earns £60,000-a-week currently (Source: Spotrac), has wowed at Newcastle this season by scoring 12 goals in 33 outings across all competitions.

The 29-year-old has shown that he is a capable forward in the Premier League and he will no doubt be able to get goals if he rocked up at Molineux in the summer.

Also as Rondon has a relatively cheap release clause, considering his talents, Wolves would be wise to snap him up as £16million doesn’t normally go that far in the current transfer market.

Likely to happen?

With Rondon keen on the idea of playing for Wolves and the Premier League side having no qualms about his price tag, there’s a good chance a deal could happen.

However after impressing for Newcastle, you feel the Magpies will go all out to get the 29-year-old so it can’t be said with certainty that Rondon is Wolves-bound.

Also with Wolves taking their time and analysing all of their other options, who knows they may opt for someone else.
