Manchester United fans are split on Twitter over whether full-back Luke Shaw should have picked up the club’s Player of the Year award for this season. Some fans have called Shaw out for some of his below-par performances – such as against Huddersfield –  when his poor reading of the play led to Isaac Mbenza’s 60th-minute equaliser and dashed United’s hopes of Champions League football. Meanwhile, other fans have pointed out that Shaw has been largely consistent in a team that has – on the contrary – largely failed to turn up under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Overall, Shaw is, as one fan points out, the best of a bad bunch and has been the most consistent performer under both managers for United this season. The likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku were rightly not considered, and on the face of it, Shaw is deserving of the award for his largely consistent performances. After all, who else would United have given the award to?

Take a look at some of the best reaction to Shaw picking up the award at Wednesday evening’s award ceremony…
