Many Newcastle United fans will worry that all the recent takeover speculation is leading nowhere after hearing two-words of Micky Quinn’s verdict on the situation.

The Sun reported on Sunday that Mike Ashley had agreed to sell the Magpies to the cousin of Manchester City’s Arab owner Sheikh Mansour in a deal worth £350million.

Since then speculation and rumours have run wild in newspapers, on TV and on social media; so much so that it’s hard to know how close the Magpies are to being sold.

With this in mind, many Newcastle fans are likely worried that once again all the talk of Ashley selling the club won’t lead anywhere, as last season everyone was talking about him potentially parting company with the club.

So when you consider that, Quinn’s verdict on the speculation will only make Magpies fans worry more, especially consider he used the words “not genuine” when reacting to the Sheikh’s interest.

“There’s all rumours flying around, it’s not genuine, well…” said Quinn on talkSPORT (13:05, Tuesday May 28th).

“But this fella, put a bid in for Liverpool last year and the official line was, he is a bit of a time waster, but there was a lot more money involved.”

Quinn’s two-words, not genuine, are likely the words that Newcastle fans have been worrying about hearing, and the fact a club legend has said them allowed won’t help calm the fears.

The 57-year-old, who played 110 times for the Magpies in his playing career, may not be in the know but you feel given his connection with the club, he probably has his ear close enough to the ground to have some idea about what is going on.
