Newcastle United have chosen not to trigger the £30million agreement in Kenedy’s loan contract as he heads back to parent club Chelsea, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the Magpies had a record breaking clause included in the loan terms of the Brazilian’s temporary deal, which saw him return to St James’ Park after an impressive half a season on Tyneside last year, which led to the £30million valuation.

However, a disappointing campaign under Rafael Benitez, which saw him plunge down the pecking order, means that Newcastle have chosen not to taken him on for another year and that Chelsea will struggle to get anywhere near the same price with just 12 months on his contract.

Opinion

There will be some Newcastle fans out there who will suggest that Kenedy is not worth £3million, let alone £30million and after the performances he put out this season you can see why. He was a shadow of his former self and wasted the opportunity he was given at St James’ Park. Gone were the rampaging runs down the wing which got the Toon Army off their feet and instead you had a forward lacking in any sort of confidence. No one out there will look to pay anywhere close to £30million this summer and Chelsea might even struggle to get any suitors for his signing. No one could have predicted this fall from grace but everyone who watched Newcastle this season would have known the Brazilian forward would not be joining on a permanent deal this summer.
