Newcastle must turn their attention to Liverpool winger Harry Wilson after a report suggested that they are interested in bringing him to St. James’ Park.

The Magpies are reportedly interested in the flyer who is valued at around £25million by the Reds, alongside a number of other clubs, as reported by Sky Sports.

Rafa Benitez is thought to be competing with the likes of Crystal Palace and Wilson’s current club Derby County, who will be a significant threat should they manage to secure a return to the Premier League on Monday, in their play-off final against Aston Villa.

However, the Newcastle should be looking to give this pursuit their full attention going into the summer transfer window, especially now that Liverpool have given an official transfer valuation for the player, which in it self doesn’t seem to far-fetched at all.

In fact, £25million for Wilson seems like an absolute steal judging on the potential that the winger has, and what he already offers on the pitch despite only being 22 years old, and it seems like a fair price to pay for a player who will no doubt arrive at the club in style and bring his goal scoring antics with him.

Wilson has scored 18 times for Derby this season in all competitions, whilst also registering six assists in his time with the club, and this attacking input is definitely something that Benitez could do with bringing to St. James’ Park.

It seems unlikely that the move would happen anytime soon however, with Benitez’s future at the club still up in the air as a result of ongoing contract talks with the Newcastle owner, Mike Ashley.

The closest thing that the Magpies had to Wilson’s attacking prowess last season was Salomon Rondon, and as his long-awaited return to West Brom is soon to happen, Newcastle will have to focus their attention on a player who will score goals for the club, and Wilson could be just what they need.
