Jackie McNamara believes that Liverpool winger Harry Wilson would be a good signing for Wolves to make this summer.

Wilson, who spent the season on loan with Championship side Derby County helping Frank Lampard’s side reach the play-offs, is believed to be interesting Wolves with the 22-year-old’s parent club Liverpool placing a £25million valuation on the winger, according to the Football Insider.

The Welshman enjoyed an impressive season in the Championship scoring 16 goals and delivering four assists, and is thought the 22-year-old would be keen to push for a move if Jurgen Klopp suggests he will be unlikely to be given first team opportunities at Anfield next season.

McNamara has revealed that he believes Wilson could perform well in the Premier League and would be an ideal addition for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

“Wilson is definitely a player who can shine in the Premier League. He has got so many qualities that managers want – he can create and score goals, a great left foot, can link up the play and take great set pieces,” McNamara told the Football Insider.

“He definitely has real ability and would be ideal for Wolves’ style of play. They are quite adaptable in how they use their attacking players and you could see Wilson doing as well there as James Maddison has at Leicester signing moving up from Norwich the year before.”

OPINION

McNamara is right to suggest that Wilson could be a good addition for Wolves this summer, and to believe that the 22-year-old could perform well in the Premier League if given the opportunity to e a regular in a top flight side. Wilson’s form for Derby in their season which came close to ending in promotion, losing in the Championship play-off final to Aston Villa, has demonstrated his potential to play at a higher level. Wilson is unlikely to be given first team opportunities at Anfield next term, with Klopp already having the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to call upon, suggesting a move away could be the best option for the Wales international to continue his development. Wolves supporters will hope that Nuno is able to bring in a player of the quality of Wilson during the window to improve his squad, as the club prepare for the challenge of competing in both the Premier League and the Europa League next term.
