Manchester United appear to have won the race to sign Swansea’s Daniel James with a £15 million deal close to being finalised, according to Sky Sports.

21-year-old James has attracted interest from a series of clubs after an impressive season in the Championship. The Man United re-build is underway and James is close to becoming Solskjaer’s first signing as United boss.

The Wales international has two caps for his country and scored four whilst assisting nine in his first Championship season as Swansea finished 10th.

Good move for Man United?

Solskjaer is a big believer in youth, his United side has been full of youngsters since his arrival and Daniel James fits the mould perfectly. James’ pace, dribbling and youthful enthusiasm will help get fans excited and at times last season, it was clear to see James was a level above. The Welshman has a big future ahead of him and it’s refreshing to see United making smart investments, something they have failed to do in recent years. James has the potential to be a top player in years to come and judging by the number of young players currently in the United squad, he could make a sizeable contribution in the coming season.

Likely to happen?

A move for James was inevitable and he is on his way out of the Liberty Stadium. The deal looks to be coming to a conclusion and when Man United come calling, it’s very difficult not to answer. The player will be very keen to join the Red Devils and begin playing Premier League football. United have fended off stiff competition for his signature, it’s a very smart, realistic deal that United fans must be impressed with.
