Manchester City have made contact with Youri Tielemans’ people over potentially signing him, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper claim that Man City are pursuing the £40million-rated Monaco midfielder as they’re planning for life without David Silva.

The Sun report that the Man City playmaker may have played his last game for Pep Guardiola’s team as he is currently mulling over a two-year contract offer from a club in Qatar.

Good move for Man City?

Yes if Silva is heading for the exit door.

The 33-year-old has been Man City’s creative spark for many seasons and if he is going to exit, someone equally as impressive must arrive to feel his shoes.

While Tielemans isn’t at Silva’s level yet, the 22-year-old may well soon be if his 2018/19 campaign at Leicester City is anything to go by.

The central midfielder, who has 21 caps for Belgium, was involved in 38% of Leicester’s league goals in the recently-ended season (Source: Transfermarkt) and that shows what an attacking force he could be in the Premier League.

Tielemans scored three goals, while registering five assists, in 13 appearances for the Foxes and surely would be able to be even more effective with better players around him.

Likely to happen?

Silva exiting would be no surprise as it seems Guardiola is trying to get rid of the old guard in order to replace them with younger talent.

With that in mind a swoop for Tielemans makes so much sense and could quite possibly happen.

Man City are more than capable of paying the £40million likely needed to sign him, and that should easily see them acquire his signature ahead of any other potentially interested parties.
