Paul Konchesky raved about West Ham midfielder Marcus Browne after he sent a farewell message to Oxford United.

The 21-year-old midfielder has spent his 2018/19 campaign on loan at The U’s and after they played their final game of the season Browne took to social media to thank everyone at the club for their help.

“A final goodbye and a special thank you to the staff , players , fans & everyone involved @oufcofficial . Its been a pleasure to be part of such an amazing club. You made me feel welcome and at home from the first day I walked in. I wish you all the best for the future!,” wrote Browne on his verified Instagram account.

OPINION

Browne’s loan spell at Oxford United couldn’t have gone any sweeter and it’s no surprise that Konchesky has popped out the woodwork to wish him well. The 21-year-old featured 44 times for the U’s, scoring nine goals and grabbing five assists, and proved he was a talent that deserves to be taken notice of. While Browne was wowing in League One, he did show enough that would have grabbed Manuel Pellegrini’s attention. It seems very likely that Browne will have an opportunity to impress in pre-season as a result, as the Hammers manager has never steered away from giving youth a chance. The 21-year-old is more than capable of seizing his opportunity and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him playing his football at the London Stadium next season. However if Pellegrini believes he is not ready for the Premier League just yet, the Hammers need to ensure he is loaned out to a Championship side in order for him to improve.
