Kevin Campbell urged Everton to sign defender Kurt Zouma after witnessing him feature for the Toffees in the 2-0 win over Burnley.

The former Toffees striker took to his verified Twitter account after Marco Silva side’s latest win in order to heap praise on the 24-year-old, who is currently at Goodison Park on loan from Chelsea, and dubbed him an excellent player.

Campbell then claimed that the Toffees need to sign Zouma ‘ASAP’ as the centre-back takes pride in his defending.

“Excellent Player who takes pride in defending, needs to be signed ASAP!!” wrote Campbell.

OPINION

Zouma was a force to be reckoned with in the win over Burnley and the Toffees should go all out to keep him at the club. The 24-year-old has submitted some shaky performances this season, but more often than not he has impressed while featuring for Silva’s side. The centre-back has featured 34 times across all competitions this season, grabbing two goals in the process, and has proven he is worthy of a place in the Toffees’ first-team as a result. Zouma will no doubt continue to get better under Silva’s guidance if signed permanently as he can hit the ground running next season, as he won’t have to settle in, and he is at an age where he still learning and improving. While you can’t disagree with Campbell over the Toffees’ need to sign Zouma, you do wonder if they could pull off his signing. The Blues may opt to keep the 24-year-old at Stamford Bridge for next season as with a transfer ban looming over them, as covered by Sky Sports, he might get first-team football at Stamford Bridge.
