Everton are interested in signing Nice forward Allan Saint-Maximin, according to Nice-Matin.

The French publication states that the Toffees are looking to bring the France Under-21 international – who scored six goals and had a hand in four others – on a permanent deal this summer.

The 22-year-old, who joined Nice from Monaco in the summer of 2017, has one year left on his current deal with the Ligue 1 side.

Good move for Everton?

Definitely. The player has shown in his time with Nice – especially this season – that he has an eye for goal, and can set up goals for his teammates too. This is an attractive proposition that would fit in well in any team, not just Everton’s. But focusing on the Blues, one player who could leave this summer is Henry Onyekuru, and luckily enough, he plays as a winger. This would be an ideal opportunity for Marco Silva to refresh his options in that position.

Likely to happen?

There is a real chance. Everton have four wingers at the club, with one of them – Onyekuru – looking like he could be the one that will leave this summer. If he does, Saint-Maximin would be an ideal replacement. It just comes down to whether the player himself, who played 33 league games for Nice last term and 35 in all competitions, would want to sacrifice first-team football for a rotational role at Goodison Park. Because, let’s face it, there is no way Saint-Maximin is going to get in ahead of the likes of Richarlison and Ademola Lookman.
