Everton hold a “major interest” in signing Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser this summer, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The 25-year-old wide man has hit eight goals and assisted 15 more for the Cherries this season, and has been linked with a move to Arsenal during the current transfer window, as reported by the Independent.

But Nixon sought to quite those claims via tweet to his personal Twitter account, instead suggesting that the Toffees were the Scot’s main pursuers.

When asked if the Gunners’ interest was genuine, Nixon wrote: “Think people working on making it genuine… still hear Everton have the major interest.”

Good move for Everton?

Yes, definitely. Fraser has proven this season that he is a real live wire, capable for doing serious damage to just about anybody in the Premier League. Only Eden Hazard registered more league assists over the course of the campaign, and that really speaks volumes as to the level the Scot has been performing at. At times this season, Everton have looked a little imbalanced. Bernard has really grown into his role at the club, and Richarlison looks bright, but there are still question marks over the youngster’s best position, and when he plays in a central role, Theo Walcott looks off the pace and Ademola Lookman for whatever reason doesn’t appear to have Marco Silva’s backing. Fraser would certainly remedy that issue.

Likely to happen?

There’s no reason why it couldn’t. Everton have shown their ambitions in the transfer market over the past couple of seasons with some big money moves, and Fraser could be the latest one of those. Bournemouth would command a decent fee, but you would assume it will be relatively affordable. If the winger sees Goodison as a step up from the south coast – and he should – and if the two clubs can come to some sort of arrangement, then this could definitely be a goer.
