Everton are in the hunt to sign Coventry City midfielder Tom Bayliss, according to TEAMtalk.

The football outlet claim that the Toffees and Liverpool are the latest teams to have joined the race to sign the 20-year-old with Newcastle United, Brighton, Middlesbrough and Leeds United already thought to be in pursuit.

TEAMtalk report that Bayliss is thought to have a £3million release clause in his contract and that Newcastle, Brighton, Middlesbrough and Leeds have already directly asked Coventry City to keep them informed about the player.

Good move for Everton?

Yes, there is a reason why several teams are keeping tabs on Bayliss.

The 6ft tall midfielder (Source: Transfermarkt) has wowed in League One with Coventry this season as he has successfully played in several different positions across the 41 games he has featured in.

Bayliss has been deployed as a holding midfielder as well as on both flanks for Coventry this season and has shown off his versatility.

Given that the 20-year-old is not only versatile and young but also has tons of helpful experience having played 73 times for Coventry’s first team; then the Toffees should not hesitant to snap him up.

Likely to happen?

Bayliss seems destined to be on the move given how many high-profile teams are chasing his services, but whether he is on his way to Goodison Park is debatable.

No team in the hunt for Bayliss seems to have made their move as of yet, so it may come down to who acts first having the best chance.

The Toffees will not sweat over paying £3million to active the release clause in his contract, so you feel they have at least a chance of being the team to get his services.
