Tony Cascarino heaped praise on Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko when naming his alternative Premier League Team of the Year.
The talkSPORT pundit was tasked with naming an alternative Premier League Team of the Year with the catch being he could only named one player per team.
Cascarino opted to use his Spurs pick on the French midfielder and claimed he had been a real standout when it came to the position of centre-midfield alongside Wolves ace João Moutinho.
“Sissoko, I was talking in midweek if you imagine eyebrows were raised when they paid 30 million, him and Wijnaldum were in the Newcastle side that were relegated,” said Cascarino on talkSPORT (9:11am, Saturday May 11th).
“If you think of the business Liverpool got done signing Wijnaldum and what Tottenham have got out of Sissoko has just got better and better, and I think those two in midfield, Sissoko and Moutinho have been real standouts for that position.”

Sissoko has been a standout not just for midfielders in the Premier League but for Tottenham in general. It says so much that Cascarino has been so blown away by the improvement of the midfielder this season that he has ignored selecting Heung-min Son and Harry Kane for his alternative Team of the Year. While that decision may raise some eyebrows, it’s the right one by all accounts. Sissoko has regularly delivered the goods for Mauricio Pochettino’s side even when his teammates have struggled to get up to speed. This is a dramatic change in situation as last season if Spurs were wowing, you still would have bet on the midfielder not having a good game. Yet it just shows you that with a bit of hardwork and guidance from a talented manager like Pochettino, positive transformations can occur. Hopefully Sissoko is able to keep up his great form for many seasons to come.
