Many Aston Villa fans should prepare for heartbreak this summer as their club’s chances of signing Tammy Abraham from Chelsea now look slim.

The Sun reported on Sunday that Chelsea would keep the 21-year-old forward at the club if their Fifa transfer ban remains and that any attempt to sign the attacker by the Villans will be rejected.

The national newspaper claim that Dean Smith’s side would like to buy or loan Abraham again next season if they’re promoted to the Premier League due to how well his loan spell at Villa Park this season has gone.

The thought of their club having no chance of signing Abraham will no doubt shatter the hearts of several supporters as he has become a fan favourite due to the impact he has made at the club.

The 21-year-old is the club’s top scorer at the club after scoring 26 goals in 41 outings, which means he averages a goal every 129 minutes (Source: BBC), and that is significantly better than the club’s other forwards.

For example Jonathan Kodjia, who in fairness has been dealt a cruel hand with injuries, has only managed nine goals this season which means he has only scored once every 227 minutes.

It’s also not just Abraham’s popularity that will cause Villa fans to be disappointed to miss out, it’s also because they know 21-year-old is one of the best options on the market for them to sign.

The Villans will definitely need to sign a forward in the summer if promoted and they would have benefited from one who could have hit the ground running having already known the club well.

However when you consider Chelsea are set to keep Abraham if their transfer ban stands and have already seen an appeal to overturn their punishment rejected (Source: ESPN), it does seem The Sun’s report has revealed that Villa’s pursuit has been dealt a significant blow.
