BBC journalist Adam Pope has commented on a leaked email from Leeds executive Angus Kinnear after Leeds were knocked out of the play-offs by Derby.

In the email sent to Leeds staff Kinnear admits “I am sure like me that you feel pretty s**t this morning and it is natural to be down today. However this is no time for self pity.”

Kinnear goes on to say that everyone should “reflect on the great season we have had both on and off the pitch. While we have not realised our dreams this year I know we have created the foundations which mean we will ultimately achieve it.”

Another key message from the email was that Andrea Radrizzani “remains as committed as ever”. That will be good news to Leeds fans after a Mail report claimed he may have to sell up if they didn’t win promotion this season.

Kinnear rounded off the email by saying “We will be ordering pizza for lunch at Elland Road in what I accept will be a futile attempt to improve morale.”

Pope commented on the email on Twitter saying it was “An example of good management”.

OPINION

This is brilliant. It shows that Leeds are in really good hands and that the club is being run by genuine people. He’s got a really good turn of phrase and the joke at the end rounds off an email that would have really helped the morning after the night before. There’s not a lot in there you wouldn’t expect but the part about Radrizzani remaining committed will be music to the ears of Leeds fans. With him staying there’s probably more chance of Marcelo Bielsa staying on. And if Bielsa stays on there’s more chance of Leeds getting promoted to the Premier League next season. It’s not a definitive “Radrizzani is staying” but this email won’t have gone out without his say so and that can be read as a pretty clear indication that he’s planning to stay for another shot at promotion next season.
