Mauricio Pochettino’s cousin Daniele has suggested that reports linking him with the vacant manager’s role at Juventus are “feasible”, and that the Argentine has the “desire” to take charge of the Serie A champions.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Tottenham boss Pochettino is favourite to replace the departing Massimiliano Allegri this summer, and his relative, who lives in Italy, believes that the move is a possibility.

Speaking to Tutto Juve, she said: “Mauricio to Juventus is a feasible hypothesis. Everyone in our family wants to see him at Juve.

“He is certainly attracted to Italy. He told us he wants to come to our country to find his ancestral heritage.

“He has the desire to coach Juve. He’s equipped with all the qualities needed to coach Juve. Juve always recruit the best coaches.

“Juve are looking for a coach who has the profile of a winner and Mauricio has this attitude. In style, he is a bit like that of Conte because he wins with a competitive spirit and intensity.

“I don’t know if he can be convinced [to come to Juve]. We must always see what would be eventually proposed to him.”

OPINION

This is worrying news for Spurs fans. To be fair, there is nothing to suggest that Pochettino feels as if he would be the right man for the job at Juve, but to have a relative come out and say these kind of things will always have supporters biting their nails. In many ways, this feels like a watershed moment for Spurs. Obviously, they are in a Champions League final, but that could prove to be one last hurrah for their manager. If they win that game, then where else can he take the club? And if he loses, he must surely feel that his chances of replicating this season’s success are very slim. Nobody could blame Pochettino if he walked away now, after everything he has done for the club, but fans will be hoping and praying that this is just a rumour and nothing more. There could be a tense summer ahead in north London.
