Nottingham Forest are interested in signing FC Emmen left-back Caner Cavlan this summer, according to El Desmarque.

The Spanish outlet reports that Forest have entered the race to sign Cavlan, who is set to be available for a free transfer this summer after his contract with Dutch side Emmen runs out.

Forest could potentially face competition to sign the 27-year-old with La Liga side Real Betis and Greek side Olympiacos also believed to be interested in making a move for the left-back this summer.

Good signing for Nottingham Forest?

Cavlan is an energetic left-back with the ability to offer creativity from the wide areas when overlapping his winger down the left hand side of the pitch.

The 27-year-old has had a fine season for Emmen in the Dutch top flight, managing to be involved in 12 goals for the Dutch club this campaign from his left-back position.

The full-back could be an ideal option for Martin O’Neill’s side to call upon next season, with the 27-year-old offering more attacking threat and end product in the final third than current first choice left Jack Robinson.

Forest have somewhat struggled for goals this season in the Championship at times managing just 61 goals in their 46 games, with only two sides who finished in the top half of the table scoring fewer, which is something Cavlan could help address next term.

Likely to happen?

Forest are likely to face a lot of competition for Cavlan, whose impressive form this campaign has attracted the interest of the likes of Real Betis and Olimpiakos.

Having spent heavily in the transfer market last summer, and still failing to earn promotion finishing in ninth place in the Championship, Forest might want to be a little more cautious this summer.

However, Cavlan could be available on the cheap and that will encourage Forest to potentially firm up their interest, if the club do sign him he could prove to be a bargain addition in the near future.
