Charlie Nicholas has predicted that Tottenham will draw 2-2 against Everton when Marco Silva’s side travels to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday.

Spurs will undoubtedly go into the match on a massive high after their miraculous win against Ajax to book their spot in the Champions League final earlier this week.

However Nicholas believes that the lengths that Spurs players went to on Wednesday night will mean that Mauricio Pochettino will be forced into changes this weekend and the players who do end up keeping their spots in the side could become tired against a well-rested Everton team.

“I hold my hands up to Tottenham. They were without Harry Kane and Heung-min Son was below average in my opinion, but what a performance. They dug in and they have made the top four,” said Nicholas on the Sky Sports website.

“I think they will be exhausted and there will be changes for certain. Mauricio Pochettino has choices. Fernando Llorente has had a massive impact. The younger kids and Erik Lamela will come in.

“Everton have finished the season like they always do and give the fans the hope that they might get going at the start of next season.

“By 65-70 minutes Tottenham will be tired and will not be forceful about getting something from the game. That point will probably get them ahead of Chelsea.

“Tottenham fans will be going mad for the Champions League and I cannot blame them, it has been a remarkable week for them.”

OPINION

Nicholas did not seem to think that Spurs would finish in the top-four of the Premier League this season and to be fair to him, few could have disagreed when you look back at the London club’s form since around February. One of the major reasons why Spurs’ spot in the top-four is all but confirmed is because Arsenal and Manchester United have been just as terrible as them in that time period. Chelsea have somehow already confirmed their spot in the Champions League next season despite looking even worse than Spurs and Arsenal for most of the season. Other than Liverpool and Manchester City, the rest of the top-six have not done anywhere near as good as they should have in the Premier League. Spurs fans will hope that changes next season and maybe reaching the Champions League final will convince some very good players to head to the white side of North London in the summer transfer window.
